Pastor Rob Pizanti
Interim-Transitional Pastor Rob Pizanti was called in January 2011 to serve Christ Lutheran Church in Belfair Washington.

“I am drawn to the people of Christ Lutheran Church and their love of God, their friendliness and their compassionate caring actions of loving and serving God and our neighbor in our community.  My wife and I came back to the love, the beauty, the openness and the spirit of our neighbors, the land, the water, the fisheries and weather of our Pacific Northwest.  We love to sea kayak and downhill snow ski too.”

Pastor Pizanti is married to the former Therese Eileen Shea, who works as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Oakland Bay Pediatrics in Shelton WA; and they have four adult children, a daughter-in-law and three grandchildren.

He received his Master of Divinity degree in 1996 at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley CA, began ministry as an intern-interim pastor in 1994 at Dillingham Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillingham AK, served as pastor in 1996 at St Paul Lutheran Church in Chewelah WA, and served as a chaplain in the Army from 1999 to 2009.

Chaplain Pizanti provided worship, Word and the Sacraments to military people and their families on post, in the field and in combat.  Chaplain ministry provides the opportunity for people of diverse faiths to practice their religion as provided for in the US constitution.  After a year of clinical pastoral education at Ft Lewis WA he served as hospital chaplain clinician to soldiers with traumatic battle injuries, staff and families at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, in Washington, DC.  As Battalion Chaplain 2006-2007 he supervised six Unit Ministry Teams and served over 4,000 soldiers supplying and protecting Northern Iraq.

Following high school and community college he served as a licensed nurse in 1973, a corpsman in the Navy, a medic with the Marines, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at University of San Francisco in 1985, served and instructed as an emergency and trauma intensive care nurse, earned flight nurse wings in the Air Force, and flew as a flight nurse on an Alaska civilian flight team, where he responded to a clear call to pastoral ministry.
